Americans produce an incredible amount of additional waste. It’s estimated that we produce 25 percent or more household waste during the period from Thanksgiving to New Years compared to the rest of the year. This turns about to be about one million additional tons of garbage to our landfills each week during the holidays. That's a lot of garbage!

The Inverness Hotel, in partnership with Tree by Tree and Tagawa Gardens, founded ‘Trash to Trees’ to help raise community awareness about the importance of recycling and making eco-friendly choices, in particular during the holiday season.

Trash to Trees is a tree decorating competition that encourages Denver and Arapahoe County students in grades 1-8 to be artistic instead of a statistic. The competition challenges students to use recycled or re-purposed items to decorate a holiday tree and earn some ‘green’ for their PTA/PTO.

for this first annual, one-of-a-kind tree art display and vote for your favorite tree, or better yet, purchase one for your home! Trees will be on display at The Inverness Hotel in Englewood December 5-13.

The competition is limited to the first 50 schools so submit your application NOW! Applications must be submitted by November 2.
