New Managing Director Takes Reins at The Inverness

(ENGLEWOOD, Colo.) ? New leadership is in place at The Inverness Hotel and Conference Center. George Fischer recently assumed the role of managing director, replacing Gary Fries.

Fischer?s career in hospitality management spans more than two decades at notable properties across the nation. Most recently, he was president of the Ida Carson Callaway Foundation, a non-profit foundation in Georgia consisting of 14,000 acres dedicated to environmental preservation and education. Fischer also served as president for The Resort at Callaway and The Preserve at Callaway, both foundation holdings.

Prior to his work in Georgia, Fischer was hotel manager for the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs. While at the Broadmoor, his additional roles included vice president for the property?s parent company, World Arena Management Co., and assistant secretary for The Broadmoor Hotel Inc. He also previously held management positions with the Sagamore Resort in New York and the Greenbrier Hotel in West Virginia.
 
In addition to his duties at The Inverness, Fischer is involved with numerous professional organizations. He currently serves on the resort committee for the American Hotel and Lodging Association, and previously served two past directorships representing both Colorado and Georgia. In 2003 Fischer was named Lodging Professional of the Year by the Georgia Hospitality and Travel Association, for which he is a past chairman.

Fischer holds a bachelor?s degree from Michigan State University, where he majored in business and hotel, restaurant and institutional management.
