The Inverness Announced New Director of Operations
October 08, 2003

(ENGLEWOOD, Colo.) ? The Inverness Hotel and Conference Center announces the promotion of Daniel Block to director of operations.

Most recently Block was food and beverage director for The Inverness, overseeing three restaurants including The Swan, two bars, in-room dining and all banquet events. In his new role, Block will supervise the daily operations, including financial and customer service management, for golf, retail, food and beverage, and several back-of-the-house departments.

?Dan has been an integral part of our team at The Inverness for several years,? said Gary Fries, managing director. ?This promotion is a wonderful opportunity for Dan to continue building his talents in the hospitality industry, and we?re very fortunate to share in that growth with him.?

Block began his career in hospitality as a teenager, helping out in his family?s classic-style French restaurant. He later attended the prestigious Culinary Institute of America and graduated at the top of his class.

Following training at the five-star, Five Diamond Turnberry Isle in North Miami Beach, Block was named chef de cuisine at Naples? Registry Resort. He then served as chef and later executive chef and ultimately opening chef for the distinguished Ritz Carlton chain. Prior to joining The Inverness staff, he was executive chef and food and beverage director at La Mansion del Rio Hotel in San Antonio.

Block holds seven medals from the American Culinary Federation, including four gold awards. He is a certified food and beverage executive, and the recipient of the 1994 Texas Seafood Chef of the Year award. He also was awarded first place in the 1992 Chefs in America?s prestigious Mystery Basket Competition.
