Amongst a sea of new golf courses in Denver?s southern suburbs, The Inverness Golf Club stands out as the most mature course in the area, as witnessed by its four star rating in Golf Digest?s Places to Play for 2002 and its top 10 ranking in Colorado Golf Magazine. The private, PGA 18-hole course was designed by renowned golf course architect Preston Maxwell in 1974 and provides a venue of fast, undulating greens, water in play on 11 holes and lean, sloping fairways.
The course is open to private membership as well as guests enjoying a stay at the AAA Four Diamond? Inverness Hotel and Golf Club. It is considered one of Denver?s most prestigious golf courses with stunning views of Colorado?s Rocky Mountains and has played host to the Colorado Open, the country?s number one state open, and the Celebrity Players Tour.
Bob Stallman, head golf professional at the Inverness Golf Club, is no stranger to Denver?s golf scene. He served as Captain of the University of Denver Golf Team from 1977-1978 where he earned his B.S., and later his M.B.A. In 1985 Stallman turned professional, ranking Class A professional in 1988 and turning Class A?Head Professional in 1989, the same year that he took the reins at the Inverness Hotel and Golf Club. Since becoming head golf professional at Inverness Hotel and Golf Club, Stallman has won the Colorado PGA Pro-pro three times. He was also elected to the Colorado PGA Board of Directors and served four years, from 1995-1999. In 1998 Bob Stallman won the Colorado PGA Resort Merchandiser of the year.
When it comes to his philosophy on teaching golf, Bob Stallman prefers to keep it simple. ?I prefer to work with what the student has rather than change them too much,? said Stallman. Rather than change everything about what his students already know, Stallman focuses on leading students from poor and unfocused technique to excellence on the golf course.
Away from the golf course, Stallman is a family man, considering the highlight of his life his marriage to wife Susan. He is a family man who wishes to spend as much time with his wife and ten and five-year-old children as possible. When time permits, he likes to read, take day trips with his family and is a really big fan of college football.
